A little mostly monochrome mark-making with watercolour – trying out different techniques, opacity and composition. I like trying stuff out on small pieces of aquarelle paper – like sketches and free floating ideas.
I am sitting here in the sun and looking at a piece of chopped wood and thinking on how to translating inspiration to mark making. The piece is beautifully adorned with deep lines, like a small animal has travelled in an unknown land. Some of the lines make up a tree with trunk and branches. Some lines provide a background. Some lines are on their way, and in my minds eye I see this long […]
More meeting of lines…
Made oil with root celery tops for food – wonderful green colour so tried colouring a piece of aquarelle paper with the residue. The dry version is more subdued. Don’t know if the residue will rot ?
Development of the algae forms – See the beginning here. A big piece of carbon paper in a light colour is the background for a meeting of lines in grey nuances of Winsor & Newton pigment markers. Also a bit of oil, corn and seeds. I have cut out most of the photocopied algae shapes and have begun playing around 🙂 1. The grey drawn lines could be understood as stems for waterflowers. 2. A random […]
I have a larger Gelli Plate, 8″ x 10″ to use for printing papers for collages. In this particular instance I wanted to work with some of the same colours as I have been observing throughout the Introductory Project. Doing this by using the primary colours combined with a dark neutral. And finally an intention of leaving a good bit of white on the prints. I have used Arches 300gr aquarelle paper, torn into squares […]
I have a red and a Salmon coloured Geranium in pots outside, and I was wondering what colours their petals might give, if any, so I soaked the left-overs in a pot with water and experimented; Interestingly the colours on aquarel paper and ordinary drawing paper came out pinkish – why not red and salmon ? Is it the chemical combination as the flowers do not look pink or lilac ??? Could the stripes in […]
Food for thought… Perhaps an eternity could be spent in a corner… in a dot…
As outlined in the blog post on ideas conceived from Nature´s Larder, I had a good evening mark making, trying various combinations on the meeting of Lines. I like the more elongated forms – not so happy about the repetitive forms. Tried larger shapes and ended up with broken lines – like those So, could the broken lines be something else and could they be combined with the twisted meetings ?
A Sunday story of how herbal leaves from my pots outside turned into algae…— I thought I would try to outline a few different shapes and then experiment further with the shape I was most drawn to.—The two shapes at the bottom of the snapshot looked a little Christmas like and also a bit algae like so they caught my eye. Can´t remember the name of the herb for now, but it tastes a little […]
So the other sleepless night at around 2.36 am – I sat at my desk and noted the following ideas from my Introductory Project whi ch could be interesting to generate some more work around – and which also could be fun to look at – so here goes; The notion of cycles – the temporal aspect, Ouroboros in nature, are we here now ? The disolvement of forms – more vegetables and flowers to […]
