For a pensive mood – what an odd month this is…
So the fourth Sunday of Advent has arrived, and with this day also the holiday season for many. This was not a year of happy Christmas decorating for me – but one of the few things around is a huge purple advent wreath. The candles are so large that it has managed to burn almost all of December and turning into beautiful light sculptures. Contemplating this last year and looking at and into the individual […]
Flowers for a grey day 🙂
Time for reflection…
Just needed to see what my Pantone app would make of the beautiful robe from China as mentioned in the last blogpost. – Wild Orchid, 16-2120 TCX – Sweet Corn, 11-0106 TPG – Delphinium Blue, 16-4519 TPG – Desert Mist, 14-1127 TCX – Quail, 17-1505 TCX A triadic harmony between Wild Orchid, Delphinium Blue and Desert Mist? —– This scarf is also within this colour palette, sorry about the light; A slightly different composition in […]
Golden light – golden thoughts…
Life is a little too busy right now, so time to reflect and write about my three chosen textiles is a very slow process. So whatever energy is left late at night after a long working day is used for mark making and testing various media. I love pastels, especially soft pastels, love the intensity of pigment and the versatility, so here is few examples of mark making, both with inspiration from forms but also […]
Red colour for new energy in the dark…
For inspiration 🙂 – greenness and sharp edges…
A bit of green for Sunday – drying mint – love the transparency of layers.
I found a yarn shop in the little village of Atessa – a mix of yarns, underwear, umbrellas, childrens stuff and whatever have you, but found these to take home. The two largest ones are for making shawls in changing colours. Have found the recipe so will be good winter project when the mind needs a little rest 🙂
So I am back from my textile course in Italy, lots to process and post, but here is a little texture for today – dried tomatoes coming out of the dehydrator.
I have arrived in Atessa, a small village in the hills in the Abruzzo region in Italy. I am here for a workshop in textiles with Dionne Swift, beginning tomorrow. Today has been a restful day spent wandering around the small town, so here are a few snapshots of gorgeous texture. Look forward to the kind of mark making this will give, more to come… —– —–
We are approaching the autumnal equinox, and so the Sun has moved a lot these past weeks, and now it sets in the sea directly outside my window. So a little sketch trying to catch the colours.
Just for inspiration and a little colour for the day 🙂 – fantastic forms!
Wonderful colours and structure in my dinner 😊
Love this cornflower colour ☀️
More meeting of lines…
Made oil with root celery tops for food – wonderful green colour so tried colouring a piece of aquarelle paper with the residue. The dry version is more subdued. Don’t know if the residue will rot ?
A gift from my neighbour – they keep coming, had to make a quick sketch.
