Thoughts on the further work on IP

Introductory Project - further work

It has been good to play this past month and look a bit more at a few select ideas, among these the algae forms and the meeting of lines. Would like to develop these more… To be inspired by other artists, to let them inform my work, to scrutinize, but not copying. My process this past month has settled into more concentrated experimenting time and then report and reflect a little later. Trying to note […]

White and pale yellow on black drawing paper. Colour, form, texture, good in a mix with the sunflower seeds. I was very fascinated by the inner part of the flower, the little stems defiantly sticking out – perhaps I could make a brush looking like this providing me with ochre inspiration? Black drawing paper gave a good and clear background for small sketches and compositions to think about. A little stem with a dot – […]

Introductory Project - further work

Development of the algae forms – See the beginningĀ here. A big piece of carbon paper in a light colour is the background for a meeting of lines in grey nuances of Winsor & Newton pigment markers. Also a bit of oil, corn and seeds. I have cut out most of the photocopied algae shapes and have begun playing around šŸ™‚ 1. The grey drawn lines could be understood as stems for waterflowers. 2. A random […]

Ideas and experiments / Introductory Project - further work

I have a larger Gelli Plate, 8″ x 10″ to use for printing papers for collages. In this particular instance I wanted to work with some of the same colours as I have been observing throughout the Introductory Project. Doing this by using the primary colours combined with a dark neutral. And finally an intention of leaving a good bit of white on the prints. I have used Arches 300gr aquarelle paper, torn into squares […]

Texture in a Botanical Garden

Introductory Project - further work

Went to Copenhagen for a business meeting yesterday. Had a walk through the City Botanical Gardens. A wonderful place to get a little away from the city noise. And then – texture all over the place, here are a few samples. Made me think how I can look more at this in terms of mark making to produce the same sensations. And once again the realization, a flower is a flower, is a flower, is […]

Can Geraniums provide colour ? – IP further work

Ideas and experiments / Introductory Project - further work

I have a red and a Salmon coloured Geranium in pots outside, and I was wondering what colours their petals might give, if any, so I soaked the left-overs in a pot with water and experimented; Interestingly the colours on aquarel paper and ordinary drawing paper came out pinkish – why not red and salmon ? Is it the chemical combination as the flowers do not look pink or lilac ??? Could the stripes in […]

Introductory Project - further work

As outlined in the blog post on ideas conceived from NatureĀ“s Larder, I had a good evening mark making, trying various combinations on the meeting of Lines. I like the more elongated forms – not so happy about the repetitive forms. Tried larger shapes and ended up with broken lines – like those So, could the broken lines be something else and could they be combined with the twisted meetings ?

Herbal leaves turning into algae – IP further work

Introductory Project - further work / Introductory Project - NatureĀ“s Larder

A Sunday story of how herbal leaves from my pots outside turned into algae…— I thought I would try to outline a few different shapes and then experiment further with the shape I was most drawn to.—The two shapes at the bottom of the snapshot looked a little Christmas like and also a bit algae like so they caught my eye. CanĀ“t remember the name of the herb for now, but it tastes a little […]

Ideas and experiments / Introductory Project - further work / Introductory Project - NatureĀ“s Larder

So the other sleepless night at around 2.36 am – I sat at my desk and noted the following ideas from my Introductory Project whi ch could be interesting to generate some more work around – and which also could be fun to look at – so here goes; The notion of cycles – the temporal aspect, Ouroboros in nature, are we here now ? The disolvement of forms – more vegetables and flowers to […]
