Found these while out walking – torn off their home in the strong winter gales – lying a little destitute on the road. A good contrast between the rugged surface of the road and the green, pointed needles with long shadows. A bit forlorn and lost – granted – a little peace for now lying flat on the ground, a little peace before the winds return and throw me about again… A small embroidery, perhaps […]
A little love on a gray, damp Thursday morning 🙂
I try to go for a walk every day. There is one road, so my choice of route is dependent on the wind. If I go towards West I have a view over fields and water, and if I turn East, I have a fjord on my left and a wood on my right. Every day is different, and every day brings a new perspective to life and art. Today I took the eastern way. […]
Flowers for a grey day 🙂
Lilac – a majestic colour!
These last November days have been rotten – rotten in numerous ways – no time, no space, no resources… For the first day in a while the sun was a little out yesterday so I went for a walk to get some air and some perspective on all the rotten stuff. The sky is all over the place on days like this. Makes the heart a little lighter, the perspective a little clearer; And provides […]
For inspiration 🙂 – greenness and sharp edges…
Winter is almost here – bare branches in my garden – inspiration for meeting of lines.
The trees are shedding their leaves and withdrawing their energy. Maybe we should do the same as the dark months approaches? Here is a silhouette to ponder and maybe sketch?
A bit of green for Sunday – drying mint – love the transparency of layers.
I found a yarn shop in the little village of Atessa – a mix of yarns, underwear, umbrellas, childrens stuff and whatever have you, but found these to take home. The two largest ones are for making shawls in changing colours. Have found the recipe so will be good winter project when the mind needs a little rest 🙂
So I am back from my textile course in Italy, lots to process and post, but here is a little texture for today – dried tomatoes coming out of the dehydrator.
I have arrived in Atessa, a small village in the hills in the Abruzzo region in Italy. I am here for a workshop in textiles with Dionne Swift, beginning tomorrow. Today has been a restful day spent wandering around the small town, so here are a few snapshots of gorgeous texture. Look forward to the kind of mark making this will give, more to come… —– —–
We are approaching the autumnal equinox, and so the Sun has moved a lot these past weeks, and now it sets in the sea directly outside my window. So a little sketch trying to catch the colours.
Just for inspiration and a little colour for the day 🙂 – fantastic forms!
