Had a lovely visit to Moen Denmark to see Katie Sollohub in a small gallery last week on a rainy day in July. The gallery is situated in an old building in the city centre and represents the essence of summer with greens and hollyhocks.
The paintings were exhibited in a small front room, and I got permission to take a few overview snapshots so please bear with me on the quality.
It was very inspiring to see the mark making and colours up close – how a few marks with a brush sets the scene, and how I could go on finding new elements with each new viewing.
I spoke with the gallery owner, and she told me there will be an exhibit in the UK featuring works from the Turner internship – would love to go.
She also gave me a postcard in b/w which I have put in my sketchbook with a few notes. The intricate weave of clear lines giving a sense of scene mixed with blurry charcoal areas. Will try this out!
